Stepping Up for Ages 9 – 12: Saturday Afternoon Class

In the second half of the year, students will elevate their craft as they transition from live theater to the lens of the camera. Term 3 is a high-energy dive into production mode, where participants will focus entirely on developing, refining, and perfecting their material for the Annual Showcase at the end of the term. Working as a tight-knit ensemble, they will sharpen their performance techniques, manage stagecraft, and experience the rewarding challenge of live theater.

With the showcase complete, Term 4 turns the focus toward the screen. Students will explore the technical and artistic nuances of screen acting, learning how to adapt their stage energy for the camera, work with frames, and master on-camera audition and scene-work techniques. Through advanced creative challenges and practical exercises, Semester 2 empowers young performers to build industry-ready confidence, diversify their skill set, and shine both on stage and on screen.

Ready to join the fun? Term 3 kicks off in late July and runs until mid-September, with the Annual Showcase taking place on Saturday, 19 September. Then, Term 4 starts in mid-October and wraps up in early December, closing with an Open Studio session showcasing their screen skills to family and friends.
