Getting to The Joan

You can find us at 597 High Street, close to the Penrith City Council building and Westfield.

We’re a short walk through Westfield from Penrith train station, and if you’re coming by car we’re just off Mulgoa Road, past the roundabout on High Street. There are several parking options nearby.

Our Box Office is on the ground floor, at the Westfield end, near the bar and the lift.

BY TRAIN

City Rail trains and Blue Mountains services arrive at and depart from Penrith Station. Timetables are available from the Transport NSW website. The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre is a short walk from Penrith Station via Penrith Plaza.

BY CAR

Traveling from Sydney and the Blue Mountains, take the Mulgoa Road exit from the M4. Continue along Mulgoa Road and turn into High Street.

Travel time from Sydney CBD can vary. The M4 can become quite congested with commuter traffic on Friday evenings so it is a good idea to allow extra travel time.

Generally, the trip by car takes an hour from the CBD. Travelling from the Blue Mountains is fairly straight forward (though extra time should be given for Sunday afternoon travel).

Parking

The following off-street parking is available:

  • Penrith Civic Centre car park (at Penrith City Council)
This parking is outdoors. Until 3.30pm on weekdays there are limits to how long you can park here. There are 1 and 2 hour parks. After 3.30  there is no restriction. Check the signs for weekends. Actually check the signs all the time, because sometimes they may change.Enter this car park from High Street. Turn right off Mulgoa Rd (if you’re heading toward Penrith with Panthers etc behind you) and then left at the roundabout into this park. If there’s nothing available in here you can come back out again and continue a little further past the Joan and left into:
  • Westfield Penrith Plaza car park (subject to Westfield parking terms and conditions – first 2 hours free, or 4 hours if you have the Westfield app). Or you can turn right at the same lights as into Westfield and then left into:
  • Union Road car park (opposite the Centre and is free all day and evening). Some parks are only three hours but many are all day.

Penrith City Council has also put together this handy little PDF map with all the nearby parking on it.

Tickets for families, children and babies

This price is for four people, no more than two adults.

Children’s ticket prices are set at $25 for The Joan’s Kids & Families shows.

Ticket prices may vary for performances held at The Joan but not presented by us. Different presenters and promoters have varying pricing structures and conditions, so always check the details before purchasing.

Children aged under two years do not require a ticket, providing they can sit on a parent or carer’s lap.

Prams are not permitted in the theatres. For all Kids & Families performances in the Q Theatre, you can store prams and strollers in the holding room. Other performances in the Concert Hall, please store them via the side stage.

Exchanges and Refunds

If you can’t get to a show we encourage you to give your ticket to a friend to use.

Beware of Ticket Resellers

If you purchase tickets from a reseller such as Viagogo, StubbHub or one of the many other resellers in the marketplace, you may be paying too much, or potentially purchasing tickets that are not valid.

Only tickets that have been purchased officially through The Joan will be admitted to performances.
