During a period of great uncertainty for communities, we are reaching out amidst rising concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) to reassure you that The Joan remains open and a safe place to visit.
We are a member of Live Performance Australia, the peak body for the national live performance industry, which is monitoring and advising members with regard to industry-specific issues. At this juncture there is no instruction from any government authority to cancel performances, cancel group activities, cease rehearsals, close workplaces or close performance venues.
This may change, and if so, we are preparing ourselves, and will be in touch.
We are also actively following updates especially from the NSW Government, Health Services and WHO with respect to public gatherings and spaces.
What we are doing?
- The Joan continues to present and plan events, performances, talks, lessons and workshops.
- Rigorous enhanced cleaning across the venue and positive hygiene practises are encouraged with increased hand sanitized stations being made available to our visitors and staff.
- We will continue to adhere the advice and evaluate decisions in this fast-changing environment, in discussion with our partners, local government stakeholders and health experts.
What you can do?
Please join us in taking extra steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands regularly preferably with alcohol-based hand soap, avoid close contact with anyone with a cold or flu-like symptoms and please stay home if you feel unwell for the safety of other patrons.
Thank you for your continued support and we will continue to provide updates on any developments. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our team at newsfromthejoan@penrith.city
