Colleen McCullough’s gripping novel comes to life on stage in an all-new Australian play adapted for the stage by Tim McGarry (Boy Swallows Universe, There’s a Sea in My Bedroom).
Tim is a beautiful young man with a disability. Mary is a successful mid-50s business executive with a belief she can live a happy and comfortable solitary existence without friendship or love. Drawn to each other from their first meeting, Mary hires Tim as a gardener. But as the two enjoy a growing friendship, suspicion about Mary’s motivation arises in the minds of those who wish to protect Tim.
Featuring an all-star Australian cast including Ben Goss (Tim Melville), Jeanette Cronin (Mary Horton), Valerie Bader (Joy Melville and Emily Parker), Andrew McFarlane (Ron Melville and Harry), Julia Roberston (Dee Melvill) and Akkshey Caplash (Jim, Nate and Raj), Tim is filled with love, loss and acceptance and explores the importance of embracing differences, opening oneself to the fullness of life, and the opportunities it has to offer.

SCREENING OF TIM
To celebrate Tim coming to life on stage at The Joan, 11 – 12 August, our friends at Penrith City Library are hosting a special pre-season screening of the multi award-winning 1979 film.
Directed by Michael Pate and starring Mel Gibson and Piper Laurie, this event will refamiliarise you with the beloved Australian classic before you see the play.
