Magic Beach Readings

Audience members were entranced by the free, interactive reading of Alison Lester’s classic picture book Magic Beach presented by Penrith City Library and The Joan in the Allan Mullins Theatre on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 April 2021.

Held in celebration of CDP Kids’ production of Magic Beach – Live On Stage coming to Penrith, the event proved to be extremely popular, with the reading on Tuesday selling out! It was fantastic to have patrons join us for this fun-filled event, including those who made the effort to travel from regions further afield such as Orange.

The Library set the scene for the readings, decorating the stage with every beach item imaginable, magical fairy lights and their big edition of the Magic Beach book. Together with the interactive and expressive storytelling, this really got everyone in the mood and excited for the show later in the day.

A number of fans of the beloved tale brought their copy of Magic Beach to read along during the reading, whilst others came dressed up in their fabulous beach gear!

Special thanks to Penrith City Library for teaming up with us to help us put on this event, in particular master storyteller Lorinda and her two helpers, Deirdrie and Rosalie.
