BACH’S EASTER ORATORIO
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Cancellation of Bach's Easter Oratorio on 4 April 2020
In this rapidly evolving situation as our community faces the threat of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and a slew of events across Australia are cancelled and venues close, we are looking very carefully at our programming and options.
Two international artists who are central to the performance are currently prevented from travelling outside their respective home countries, and with the new travel restrictions from the Australian government of a 14-day isolation period, Bach Akademie Australia has decided to cancel the entire Easter Oratorio Australian tour and the performance at The Joan on 4 April 2020 will be cancelled. Bach Akademie Australia is hoping to postpone their tour to 2021.
Refunds will in most cases be automatically credited to purchasers. Please bear with us as we work through our lists.
A beautiful lead-in to Easter, an opportunity to be spellbound, transported by Bach Akademie Australia who will sweep you away with the lush sounds of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Bach Akademie Australia welcomes the internationally renowned American countertenor Reginald Mobley to Australia in this musical celebration of Easter.
Reginald’s astonishingly beautiful voice will feature in Bachs’ heartbreaking cantata BWV 82 ‘Ich habe genug’ alongside Australia’s own Emma Black on baroque oboe. Cantata BWV 42 follows with a message of hope and comfort for all.
Finally Bach Akademie Australia presents one of Bach’s best loved and most jubilant works, the Easter Oratorio. Its message of pure joy and celebration continues to uplift, inspire and comfort us all these many hundreds of years later.
