Cancellation of Morning Melodies Concert on 25 March 2020 (Lonnie Lee’s Back to Base X – 63 Years and Still Rockin’)

Dear patrons,

In this rapidly evolving situation as our community faces the threat of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and a slew of events across Australia are cancelled and venues close, we are looking very carefully at our programming and options.

Our venues fall below the 500 ban (or can be managed to fall below). We are therefore not required to cancel performances. However, choices facing us go beyond the banned activities into what is right for our patrons, our staff and our artists.

Therefore, we have this morning decided that it is both responsible and prudent to cancel March Morning Melodies and we will consider further cancellations as required. Refunds will in most cases be automatically credited to purchasers. Please bear with us as we work through our lists.

Other events and performances are currently under consideration – but are a lower priority and risk. We expect some artists will be unable to perform due to the travel restrictions now in place and the fourteen-day quarantine self-isolation now required of all international travellers upon arrival. This is a difficult time for all – and a precarious time for the arts. Many casual workers, many smaller companies, many artists will be struggling to survive financially in the coming months.

You can be sure that where we proceed with events, new stringent cleaning guidelines will have been enforced, and we will, as far as is possible, enable patrons to spread out within our theatres where possible to increase social distance as recommended.

Stay safe – we will be in touch again soon.
