Ignite your children’s and teenager’s creativity these school holidays at The Joan and Penrith Regional Gallery with an exciting line-up of performances and workshops.
Don’t miss the Western Sydney exclusive season of the critically acclaimed The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show at The Joan.
Featuring four of Eric Carle’s timeless tales, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Very Busy Spider and Ten Little Rubber Ducks and over 75 magical puppets, this show will captivate and delight the young (ages 18+ months and up) and the young at heart.
Take your theatrical experience to the next level – Enjoy Q Theatre’s pre-show eco-puppetry workshop for ages 5 – 8 at The Joan in the morning and see the show in the afternoon (tickets sold separately). Throughout the workshop, participants will use recycled materials to create their own caterpillar inspired puppets and then act out their own transformation story.
Be sure to check out Q Theatre’s other amazing offerings at The Joan, including interactive drama and filmmaking workshops for ages 5 – 17. Due to popular demand the Act Out and Page to Stage in a Day workshops return with brand new sessions, including a Page to Stage workshop designed specifically for teens. Young aspiring filmmakers can explore the magical world of film and storytelling with the Snapbreak workshop. Creative Kids Vouchers are accepted for all of Q Theatre’s school holiday workshops.
Join Penrith Regional Gallery for a variety of hands-on art workshops for children aged 3 – 12. Led by the Gallery’s team of experienced artist educators and inspired by the artworks in the Gallery’s current exhibitions, including the lace creations of Maggie & The OWLS and powerful paintings by Archibald Prize Winner Blak Douglas, unleash your creativity as you paint, stencil and more.
Plus, celebrate the birthday of local Australian interdisciplinary abstract artist, Margo Lewer’s with a special workshop for ages 5 – 12. Learn about the artist whose home and studio has become Penrith Regional Gallery and create your own mini mosaic, abstract painting and artistic party hat.
All workshops include a guided exhibition visit, artmaking activities and all materials and equipment.
Make sure you also visit the free drop-in children’s activities in the Gallery’s Garden and Main Gallery while you are there.
