For Community
The Joan was opened in 1990 with a major community celebration – it grew from community – a keen group of locals with a passion for the arts, particularly music – and continues to work with its community. Several generations have performed on our stages in school and community dance and performing arts festivals.
We’ve shared experiences with families, friends and colleagues. The Joan’s spaces are available to local community organisations – we happily host exhibitions from Arty Bra to school displays, alongside high profile artists; we host Spicy Penrith and the NSW Band Championships, and are proud to be home to our Orchestra-in-Residence, Penrith Symphony Orchestra.
Our community is important to us and is a major part of what we do – whether we’re hosting work from the community, or presenting work for the community.
